26-February-2012 - Annual Badminton Tournament 2012
“SUN AND GAMES”
Annual Charity Badminton Tournament 2012, Solihull
|
February 26th, 2012 was an unusually warm day. It seemed even the sun had come out to watch a wonderful set of warm-hearted people coming together for a cause. And what he saw must have pleased him, so he shone on their efforts all day!
Smallsteps organised the Annual Badminton Tournament at Solihull School in association with SSAG and Activ Sports. Since this was a charity event, the registration fees paid by each player will be made over to Solihull Special Needs Playgroup. 76 people registered and along with their families made it a fun-filled day. Matches were held in Juniors, Mixed & Men’s Doubles. The Winners & Runners-up were: 1. Juniors Winners: Nishant Choudhary/ Soumitra Runners-up: Sam Eyre / Lewis Beech 2. Mixed Winners: Edward Johnson / Krishma Patel Runners-up: Aniela Skrybant / Kam 3. Men's Winners: Steve Kiernan / Alan Wong Runners-up: Sandeep Genu / Navin |
The competition was as fierce as the atmosphere was cordial. Parents and grandparents, spouses and children, all came to watch and to applaud. Eats were sold at the venue making it into an enjoyable social event. “Manned” by a conscientious 12 year-old, this stall also earned us a good income. Little helpers went around with tickets for a raffle, prizes for which were donated by our friends and well-wishers.
We feel proud and happy to announce that we made £886.50, which will be handed over to Solihull Special Needs Playgroup. It will make the lives of pre-school children in the playgroup a little easier! Heartfelt thanks go out to all of you who made this event happen. Special Thanks to: 1. Activ Sports for co-organizing the event 2. Solihull School for the excellent venue and facilities for the event 3. All the behind the scene volunteers for making this event happen. Thank you for making the Annual Charity Badminton Tournament 2012 ‘a smashing hit!’ |
