Small-Steps Charity Covid Appeal 2021 - MAHAN

Small-Steps Charity launched an urgent appeal to fundraise for MAHAN Trust in Melghat Tribal Area of India, to support their COVID efforts. During the massive Delta-wave crisis in April-May 2021, MAHAN Trust provided hospital and community-based services to the under-privileged tribal population of Melghat, India. Melghat was isolated and far away from tertiary healthcare providers. The challenge faced by the tribal population was unprecedented.
A massive fundraising effort coupled with logistical help from the UK in collaboration with our local partners (Sikh Aid International) ​, allowed us to support MAHAN Trust’s COVID efforts:
Small-Steps Charity funds provided for: 
  1. Oxygen Concentrators - x 10 - To support the sudden influx of COVID patients that needed intensive care unit support.
  2. 30 KVaElectrical Stabiliser+UPS+Inverter - This ensured a constant electrical supply for vital ITU equipment such as ventilators and concentrators could be maintained in an area affected by daily power outages.
  3. Air purifiers + Ventilatory equipment for ICU. - Vital equipment which in tremendous short supply including Pulse oximeters were sourced and funded for MAHAN hospital.
  4. Prevention programme - A huge door-to-door effort by MAHAN with community education, Testing Kits (3000+), PPE and vaccination provision to tackle cummunity prevalence and reduce COVID related morbidity and mortality.

Small-Steps Charity Assistance
A collaboration from Intensive care doctors based in the UK to provide daily virtual ward-rounds provided massive expert help for COVID affected patients in MAHAN ITU who had significant need for input from specialist expert intensive care and also helped improve management protocols for outpatient and community care of COVID patients

Small-Steps Charity Covid Appeal 2021 - Ramkrishna Mission, Salem

Small-Steps Charity launched an urgent appeal to fundraise for Salem, Tamilnadu in India, to support their COVID efforts. During the massive Delta-wave crisis in April-May 2021, Ramkrishna mission Ashrama in Salem provided for preventative and treatment therapies for the 1500 poor families in local area.
 A massive fundraising effort coupled with logistical help from the support team in Nottingham, UK, allowed us ro raise funds to support this effort

​Small-Steps Charity funds provided for: 
  1. Face mask – 5000nos
  2. Hand sanitizer – 2000nos bottle
  3. Pulse Oximeter – 500nos
  4. Antigen test kit – 1000nos
  5. PPE Kit for Nurses, Doctors, patients – 1000nos
  6. Conduct motivational programs for Nurses, Doctors and other front line workers.
  7. Temporary isolation sheds – 100nos, Essential Supplies - Cots , beds, pillows,bed-sheets, pillowcovers, Waste bins with trolley 
  8. Breavement support and funeral assistance for families who lost their loved ones.
